The two pieces of furniture included here were designed and built by Cecilia Orr (in NZ), with assistance from a tool maker called Ken Moodie.
Starting with heavy cast iron found objects, Cecilia challenged herself to create elegant tables with thin tops that seemed to float almost as if unsupported. The top of Rough Around the Edges is steel treated was chemicals to create an image in a similar vein to Steel Structures, created by Julian Maher with oil on galvanized iron. A-Table was designed as a jewelry or display table, and has been designed to be reconfigurable.
Clients can commission Fe29 to design and build furniture to suit their environment. Planning is already underway for two new pieces.
