Venessa grew up in San Antonio around the Cultural Arts Centers of the Westside. Her mother was an artist on the scene at the time, and now continues to create her art in the beautiful mountains of Mexico. Watching her mother create masterpieces was what inspired Venessa to become an artist.
Venessa first became involved in photography at the age of 9, and looking back can see how this opened her eyes to many powerful moments in her life and made an impact on how she sees the world. From 2009 to 2012, Venessa exhibited her unique style of street photography in both solo and group shows in San Antonio, New YorkCity and Australia.
In 2010, Venessa became the 2nd female in 30 years to winSan Antonio’s International Tejano Conjunto Festival’s poster award. She is proud that her photograph is now part of the festival’s poster history.
Venessa and her camera now work as an International photography team, enabling her to share what her heart has seen with so many more people. “I am so grateful to be able to work around so many artistic & gracious people that have helped me continue to grow as an artist on my journey to new places and heights”.
Venessa has collaborated with a number of artists in the past and is looking forward to seeing where her involvement with Fe29 will take her.
