Since the early 1980’s, Lauren has exhibited extensively in New Zealand and internationally and is one of New Zealand’s foremost social conscience artists. She won a Gold Medal Award at the Art Addiction Annual Exhibition in Venice, Italy and has been awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council Grant and Creative New Zealand funding. Her work is held in numerous private and public collections including the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki, the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, the Sarjeant Gallery and the Chartwell Collection.
Lauren is a non-traditional, self-taught New Zealand artist. She works with lush fabrics and found materials that she might pick up at an Op-Shop to create thought provoking works that bring attention to important social issues or injustices. Lauren’s work has a playful and exuberant air about it that makes it quirky and very appealing.
